Description

Joan of Arc had several swords that she carried from time to time, but the most famous was the sword she acquired from the church of Sainte-Catherine de Fierbois, which legend says belonged to Charles Martel, who left it there as a token of gratitude for his victory at the Battle of Tours over the Saracens in 732, which permanently halted the Muslim invasion of Europe. Joan herself testified at her trial about the miraculous way in which this sword was found and sent to her. However, the fate of the sword remains unknown. Some sources claim that the sword was broken or lost before Joan was captured, while others believe that it may have been destroyed after her trial.
