Description

The claymore greatsword is a Scottish variant of the two-handed longsword of the late Middle Ages. It is characterized by a transverse hilt of forward-leaning quilons with quatrefoil finials. It was in use from the 15th to the 17th century. James I (1394 – 1437), King of Scotland, was crowned in 1424 in Scone. After overpowering the Albany clan for plotting against him when he was a child, he reduces the power of the feudal lords. Under his rule, Scottish laws were codified and a system of weights and measures was established. An extraordinary poet. Killed by Sir Robert Graham in a conspiracy. Because of his bravery in battle and his firm hand in ruling his country, he was called THE LION OF SCOTLAND.
