A ninja or shinobi was a mercenary warrior in feudal Japan. In the writings, the first shinobi, i.e. ninjas, appeared in the 15th century Sengoku Period (1467 - 1600). although there are many evidences that Ninjas were becoming known to the general public earlier only with the wars between the Iga and Koga clans.
