John Lee Ten Kei Wakizashi
The blade is forged in the complex Kobuse style. A hard shell of 1095 high carbon steel surrounds a soft core of low carbon steel. Thanks to traditional differential hardening with clay application, the blade also possesses both hardness and flexibility.
- The blade is hand-forged from two types of carbon steel + 1095 high carbon steel - Kobuse cross-section GYAKU-KOBUSE Steel
- Due to its weight, the sharpened blade includes (Bo-Hi)
- Traditional differentially hardened blade as a result of clay applied during the cooling process with an original, beautiful Hamon line
- Suitable for cutting practice, 60 HRC on the edge and 40 HRC on the spine
- Fine, handmade fittings (Tsuba, Fuchi, Kashira, Menuki) embellished with gold and silver
- The handle (Tsuka) is made of wood and complemented with original ray skin (Ito)
- The tightly wrapped green silk handle is made in the traditional Katate-Maki style
- Habaki made of brass
- The end of the handle is particularly long and secured to the tang with 2 bamboo pins (Mekugi)
- The scabbard (Saya) is made of wood, decorated with high-quality Sageo (wrap)
- The edges (Koiguchi, Kurigata and Kojiri) are made of buffalo horn
- Production followed museum originals
Ten Kei can be translated as "Gift from Heaven". It is a symbol of the beauty of nature. Inspired by nature, fine floral motifs are visible in the fittings.
