Bokken ( boken ) is a wooden practice sword, usually made of hardwood. Its shape and dimensions correspond to a traditional Japanese sword so that it can be used as a substitute for it in training and practice. The term bokken comes from the Japanese words boku - wood and ken - sword. It is also called bokuto.
