Description

Replica of the Sword from The Hobbit - In the Third Age of Middle-earth, Thorin Oakenshield and his company of dwarves come across a troll lair in Rhûdaur. Thorin finds an ancient elven sword called Orcrist (= Orc-slasher), forged by the High Elves of the West in Gondolin. Thorin claims Orcrist for himself and vows to use it to slay orcs again. He wields the sword throughout much of the Quest for Erebor, and uses it against orcs and goblins of the Misty Mountains. The orcs fear and hate it equally, calling it Griz. The Orcrist is single-edged. Its blade is sharp and curved on one side, and flat along the spine, a design perfectly suited to killing orcs and goblins. The metal hilt features the heraldry of the House of Ecthelion, Lord of the Well. The hilt is made of a dragon's tooth. It is unclear whether this tooth was installed before the Fifth Battle of the First Age or was integrated only after the Fall of Gondolin, along with the inscriptions.
