Shamshir ( shamshir ), Ottoman Persian saber. Model: CST-88STS
Shamshir originates from Persia and spread throughout the former Ottoman Empire and further into India and even the Philippines. Its strongly curved blade was perennially popular.
The Cold Steel® version of this historic saber replicates the original as closely as possible. Durable, functional and sharp. Its expertly heat-treated high-carbon 1055 steel blade features a deep curve and narrow section, combined with a sharp edge and a very sharp tip. It is complemented by a brass crossbar handle and a handle that ends in a distinctive bulbous apple. The grip is turned slightly downwards to allow the operator to hold the handle as securely as possible when performing sharp blows.
The beautiful handmade scabbard is made of thick black leather (so it won't dull the blade) and reinforced with a brass throat and armor. Comes with double suspension rings for easy carrying or display.
1055 high carbon steel
The carbon content and low alloying of this shallow-hardened steel make it a very strong material that avoids much of the brittleness usually associated with higher carbon materials. Particularly suitable for blades that require impact resistance, it is often seen in large fixed blades and swords.
