The Camillus BLACKRIVER™ Western ax is an excellent tool for every man who is a survival outdoorsman. The overall dimension of the ax is 30cm and it uses a sharp cutting edge of 6.5cm. 420 stainless steel fused with titanium extends through the handles to create a complete construction. The handles are made of highly ergonomic thermoplastic rubber for extra grip and durability. Included with the ax is a fire starter, a lanyard hole and a nylon sheath.
Titanium Bonded is not painted or coated, but rather the application of a unique formulation of titanium and chromium nitride to the surface of the cutting blades that actually penetrates and treats the metal to create a permanent bond. The patented titanium bonding process provides the following benefits; corrosion resistance, adhesive resistance and the process itself make stainless steel 3x harder than untreated stainless steel, resulting in a blade that stays sharper for longer.
Western has now combined its century-old heritage with the latest in ax knifemaking technology to provide the finest hand-crafted hunting and sporting knives. Western knives are made of titanium-bonded stainless steel, hardened to hold the edge and will withstand the impossible task and continue to deliver over extended use.
