The Ho-o is considered a celestial bird that appears only in times of peace, harmony, and righteous rule. Its appearance has traditionally been interpreted as a good omen - a sign that the world is in balance.
The hand-forged blade with a groove (Bo-Hi) is made of 1095 carbon steel (which is not stainless). Crafted in Kobuse style, traditionally hardened with a clay coating. With a real Hamon line. 60 HRC on the edge, 40 HRC on the back. The blade collar (Habaki) is made of brass, and the iron fittings (Tsuba, Fuchi, Menuki, Kashira) depict edelweiss, adorned with gold and silver. The handle wrap is Katate Maki style (battle wrap) made of gray silk, underneath which real ray skin is placed. Two pins (mekugi) secure the blade in the handle.
