Description

European court sword with scabbard from the 18th century
This weapon, developed during the Baroque period, became known as the court sword or gallant sword. It gradually replaced the rapier from the mid-17th century onwards, as the need arose for a lighter and less bulky weapon than the rapier. This was due to the increased population growth and the associated lack of space during this period.

This replica of a hall rapier has a blade made of EN45 V-section spring steel, which is not sharpened. The guard and curved handle are made of brass with a wooden handle.
The sword scabbard is made of wood covered with leather, with brass fittings and a hook for attaching the sword scabbard to the belt.
