In the anime/manga, this sword was originally a family heirloom of Loguetown arms dealer Ipponmatsu.
After Zoro proved his willpower against Sandai Kitetsu's cursed sword, Ipponmatsu rushed to the attic of his shop to retrieve his family heirloom, the Yubashiri, which he then gave to Zoro along with Kitetsu.
Since then, he served the Three Swords style swordsman well until he finally met his end in Enies Lobby in a battle against Marine Captain Shu, who used his devilish power to rust him, turning the blade of the sword into dust.
However, Zoro kept the remains of his trusty sword for a while longer, until he finally found a fitting final resting place on the Thriller Bark in the tomb of the Rumbar pirate.

This decorative replica is NOT FOR USE, about 97 cm long, it has a blade made of carbon steel, its tsuka is wrapped with a nylon cord. Unconventional decorative elements on the tsuka and saya are made of gold-plated aluminum, such as the cross-shaped tsuba, while the black-coated saya is made of wood.
