Shogun Kiji Katana - Every part of this sword has been expertly crafted by highly skilled smiths using centuries-old methods. The blade is forged from 1095 high-carbon steel and differentially hardened in clay using traditional methods, with a spine hardness Rockwelling in the range of 45-48 HRC and a harder blade of 56-58 HRC. This ancient hardening method creates a hamon - a hard visible line that remains when the clay is removed. Each blade is ground and sharp. Handcrafted in a small town located in the Longquan mountains of Zhejiang province, where the tradition of skilled sword making began more than 2000 years ago.
The tsuba and kashira depict a phoenix, known in Asian tradition as the Ho-bird, an ancient Japanese symbol representing peace, righteous rule, prosperity, and virtue. The tsuba, pommel, and fuchigashira (collar next to the tsuba) are made of brass and have an antique finish. The handle is made of genuine stingray skin wrapped with cord.
The wooden scabbard is painted matte black with glossy "raindrops".
