Description

Most likely due to barbarian or Germanic influence, the battle technique and the shape of the sword evolved in the late 2nd century AD. Blades became longer, and swords were worn on the left side. Roman spathes of the Straubing-Nydam type are narrow and long.

This replica follows originals found in southern Germany dated around the 3rd century.

The blade is made of steel. The handle is made of bone and brass. The wooden scabbard is covered with leather and riveted with authentic brass decorations.
