Description

Prussian officer's saber with steel scabbard
A nice reproduction 19th century Prussian Light Cavalry officer's saber - also known as the lion's head saber due to its distinctive apple shape.

The slightly curved, unsharpened blade is hand-forged from premium high-carbon steel. The blunt edge is about 1 mm thick, and the entire tip of the blade is attached to the apple.

The hilt consists of an apple cap hilt and a combined cross guard and knuckle. The apple is in the shape of a lion's head. A simple stirrup-shaped knuckle emerging from the lion's mouth flows seamlessly into a flat killon with a teardrop-shaped finial that curves downwards. The core of the handle is made of wood and wrapped in leather and brass wire. The bow, the cap in the shape of a lion's head and the guard are made of brass.
The cavalry saber is supplied with a matching sheet steel scabbard and hinged carrying rings.

This Prussian saber with apple in the shape of a lion's head is not a ready-to-battle weapon, but a highly decorative collector's item. And besides being a collector's item, it is also perfectly suitable as a prop, i.e. for theatrical performances.
