Where was it used:

Lord of the Rings

Here is where the Morgul blade is most famous:

  • The Nazgûl use it to impale Frodo on Weathertop in The Fellowship of the Ring .

  • This attack is crucial as the dagger fragment attempts to reach Frodo and transform him into a Nazgûl.

This is the most important and iconic use of the Morgul blade in all of Tolkien's mythology.

The Hobbit

In The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey the Morgul blade also appears:

  • Radagast finds the Morgul blade in Dol Guldur , which serves as proof that Sauron (then known as the Necromancer) is returning.

  • Gandalf later shows this dagger to the Council (Elrond, Galadriel, Saruman).
