Description

Katzbalger sword, functional blunt sword

The Katzbalger sword is a short one-handed battle sword of the Renaissance. This short sword was the favorite close combat weapon of the Landsknecht), mercenary soldiers of the late 15th and 16th centuries. Its most prominent features are a relatively short, wide blade, an S-shaped handguard, and a fishtail apple. There are two possible linguistic origins for the name: It could refer to cat skin, which may have been used for a handle or shell. However, it is more likely that it comes from the German word katzbalgen, a synonym for a fight or a fight. The Katzbalger was often used by horsemen or archers or as a last defense, when the opponent was too close for their ranged weapons.

The top of the replica is rounded, This sword is therefore suitable for light combat reenactment training and light fencing, The wooden handle, steel pommel and hand-forged guard are very solidly made.
The delivery includes a wooden and leather cover (the color of the leather may vary slightly from piece to piece).
