Bastard Sword sheath sword One and a half hands
The strong and fearless Swiss and Germans originally carried these early weapons, although bastard swords soon became popular in other regions such as the British Isles and Europe. The term bastard undoubtedly comes from the fact that the sword, due to its design, has no legitimate right to be classified as either a one-handed or a two-handed weapon. The one-and-a-half-handed sword was a weapon developed for infantry use and became quite common in the early 1500s. The fighting styles developed for the hand and half sword were a particular specialty of Northern European cultures, with the Germanic peoples being quite active in its development and use.
The Paul Chen Bastard Sword is finished with an antique patina, giving it a remarkably authentic look. The leather-covered scabbard has a neck and armor made of patinated steel.
