Bowie Bushman, Survival and Outdoor knife with hollow handle
The Bushman series of survival knives are hard to beat! Unlike most hollow-handled knives, there is no joint or seam between the blade and the handle that requires mechanical attachment. Instead, Bushman blades and handles are cold forged from a single piece of SK-5 high carbon steel! The resulting knives are expertly heat treated and hardened to RC54 and, when subjected to Cold Steel® tests, withstand more than two tons of pressure at the transition between blade and handle!
Each bushman blade is carefully honed to an exceptionally fine blade, then honed and honed by hand until it is razor sharp. Their hollow handles accept survival supplies or a variety of handle extensions that can maximize reach, leverage or ease of casting.
It comes complete with a Secure-Ex® case containing high quality ferrocerium. Hit the back of the blade with it and start a campfire right away!
Japanese high-carbon SK-5 is traditionally used to make a variety of hand tools, including chisels and saws for wood cutting. With good all-round toughness and excellent edge holding ability, as well as excellent abrasion resistance, it has stood the test of time and is used in many countries.
