Description

Bushido Tonbo (Dragonfly) Katana, folded steel,
The tsuba and pommel are decorated with dragonflies. For the samurai, the dragonfly was a symbol of fearlessness, speed, and courage; it was believed to bring strength and protection to soldiers. Japan is also known as the Island of Dragonflies or Akitsushima (akitsu is the Japanese word for dragonfly, and shima means island).
Blade: Folded steel with simulated Hamon

The blade is hand-forged and folded from carbon steel in the legendary Longquan region, where swords were made. This process gives it a characteristic and beautiful Damascus pattern (hada). It is important to note that this blade is not differentially hardened. Its hardness is consistent throughout the profile, approximately 40-45 HRC. This makes the blade tough and resistant, but softer than blades designed for cutting.

The temper line (hamon) is simulated - expertly applied by the craftsman to achieve an authentic appearance. The blade is factory-sharpened (it will pass the paper cutting test).

The Koshirae features dragonflies.
Tsuba, Fuchi and Kashira: The guard (tsuba), collar (fuchi) and pommel (kashira) are decorated with detailed dragonfly reliefs.
Handle (Tsuka): The wooden core is covered with genuine ray skin and tightly wrapped with black cotton cord.
Scabbard (Saya): The wooden scabbard has a unique, "striking flat, variegated copper finish". It is complemented by a black and brown Sageo.
