Battle cry of Agincourt War sword
Filling an underserved niche in swords available today, the Agincourt Handsword from the Windlass Steelcrafts Battlecry Collection is a slim, light, fast weapon suitable for dealing with armored or unarmored opponents. This is an agile weapon whose length and weight make it very effective in one- or two-handed combat. But it's just as dangerous when paired with a shield or even a larger shield. Combining versatility with utility, the dexterity and lightness of the Agincourt lends a dangerous combat blade of prized martial utility. With a blue patina of 1065 high carbon steel, it is well protected from the frequent rust spots and stains that so often appear due to daily practice and exposure to the weather. The battle hardened blade has an extra wide tip and is hardened to a low 50' RC. This pre-sharpened blade has undergone rigorous testing. One can easily imagine English longbowmen and knights wielding this blackened blade on the fields of the famous and disastrous battle that is honored in this sword's name. The hands-on nature of the master blacksmith's production makes this line unique.
Includes matching holster with belt stopper.
The term hand and a half is a more modern designation for a range of sword types that had tapering blades longer than the common shorter swords of the time, but without the double hilts of the larger, heavier war swords. Many different swords fall into this category, and many of them were as easy to maneuver as they were surprisingly tough. In full armor, the heavy sword was not an advantage, and the narrow point on the thinner blade was ideal for penetrating vulnerable spots on another armored fighter. At the same time, the advantage of having a faster weapon with an extended grip that could still be wielded skillfully with both hands provided knights and warriors alike with a resourceful option. This kind of sword also makes adept use of blade catching techniques called half swordsmanship which form a large part of authentic fighting methods.
