Tanto (短刀 short sword) is a samurai knife with a blade length of up to 30 cm. Its first purpose was as an additional stabbing weapon for samurai on horseback, it later evolved to eventually spread to the west. In a traditional Japanese wedding, TANTO is a gift to the bride from her family due to the belief that TANTO is a sacred protection against evil forces.
